MERCATOR 40 Year 2004
A nice blue water cruising aluminium twin keels cutter, built at the Mercator yard from Ribadeau Dumas designs. Maintained in a exceptionnal condition, well designed with her deck saloon, her large owner's cabin and her technical compartment. A strong and light sailboat , easily groundable and wonderful to sail far and secure.
Owner's words
The Mercator 40 is both fast and efficient to sail upwind, with a 10 knots wind, she reaches a 5 knots speed, 6 knots at 13 knots of wind. The cruising speed of 7 knots is reached as soon as the wind is 16/17 knots. She sails 50° upwind with a reasonable heeling due to the twin keels. This boat has been designed for secure blue water cruising with a short handed crew. After 5 years sailing from Normandie to the Mediterranean, we always felt safe aboard. This sailbaot can handle very bad weather (so much as we can!). What we loved more? The forward sight in the deck saloon from the chart table, the Ebespacher pulsed air heating system, the hull insulation (cold, hot, rain noise) and the comfortable bathroom.
