ALUMARINE 55' Year 1988
The Alumarine 55 designed by Guy Ribadeau Dumas is a cutter-rigged cruising weighted centerboarder sailboat, strongly built in aluminum by Alumarine. Originally built for a cruising school, she has crossed the Atlantic several times and has 3 double cabins and 2 shift berths in the saloon. There are 8 beds (or 9), but the current owners sail mostly with a short handed crew of two and the boat really allows it: big winches, large tanks of water and diesel, raised kitchen and chart table, self tacking staysail, davits on gantry. A bright, safe, heated and insulated ship for beautiful family trips.
Owner's words
We bought this boat in 2014. She was elegant, had a hull length suggesting nice average speeds, we knew about the the architect and yard's good feedbacks and all this helped us to make a decision. Knowing that a couple of professional sailors and yad owners had sailed and refitted her also secured us. We contributed to this general overhaul by replacing the water and fuel tanks, the engine and the electronics (keeping the vintage radar, still efficient), added a tunnel bowthruster. We sailed 10,000 miles in 4 years, with only 400 hours on the engine. This sailboat works well, she is safe and comfortable at sea and at anchor. Only health concerns make us selling her.
